Step 4: Build the Menu.

Building a navigation menu

The navigation menu is what your visitors use to get around your site.  There are two types of navigation menu's, vertical or horizontal.  Our system allows you to build both menu's and then use them in your templates.  You can use just one menu, or you can use them both on the same page (you can also have no menu's if you want!).

The menu building system we have developed gives you complete control over placing your pages, what button names they should have and where they link too.  You can build up to a 3 tier menu, however the horizontal menu will currently only use the first tier.  This is expected to change in the next update.

1. Open the 'Menu Builder' section

2. Select the menu that you want to build, either horizontal or vertical.

You will see the screen is divided into 3 sections.  The page categories, the pages and the menu building section.

3. Select a page category to show the pages, these are the same categories that are in the Pages and Content section.

4. Select a page to add to your menu, these are the pages that you created in the Pages and Content section.

5. Click on the insert single page arrow  to place your menu item.  You will notice it automatically gives the button a name and capitalizes the first letter of your page name.  When you insert a page it will also automatically change underscores to spaces.

You will notice that around the page you inserted there are insert page arrows in different places.  This allows you to insert another page either above, below or as a sub page.

Alternatively you could use the insert all pages arrow .  This will insert all pages for the current category, you don't have to select a page when using the insert all pages arrow.

6. Press the save button  to save the current menu.  Your website will now have a menu with the page you inserted.  Please note you might not see your menu yet, unless your template has the menu enabled.

Once you have built your menu with the pages, you can move them up or down or delete them.  You can also click on any of the pages you have inserted and this will popup a box where you can change the button name or change the link.  Leave the link auto if you want it to goto the page you inserted.

Insert the selected page
Insert all pages from the selected category
Move page up
Move page down
Remove page from the menu

Pages that you insert into the menu are dynamically linked back to the pages.  This means if you ever change the name of page in 'Pages and Content', the menu will automatically update.

Step 4 is now complete, any time you have created new pages that you want to add to your menu you can repeat this process.  The whole menu doesn't have you be rebuilt, you can just add the new pages wherever you like.
