Create an Auto Product Catalog

This help topic will show you how to create an Auto Product Catalog page using some of your existing products.  If you haven't done so already we recommend you create some products in the Product Editor before continuing.  Please please return to the Help Topic Index if you need help with products.

 

Before starting these steps, make sure you have the
'Pages and Content' section selected in the Base Module.

 

Step 1: Select the category that contains the page you want make into a product catalog page, and select the page from the items.  If you need to create a new page see the Add a new Website Page help section.

 

 

When you select the page, you will see the page settings for the selected page in the right area.

 

 

You will see a setting called 'Page Type', and you will see the current page type listed below it.




In the image above, you can see that the page type is current 'Custom Page'.

 

Step 2:  Open the Page type list by pressing the down arrow at the end of the list, you will see it open up as shown:

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Select Auto Product Page (Thumbs) from the list above.

 

Step 4:  Press the Page Type Settings   button to open the settings. 

 

This will open up the settings where you will see a list of your product categories on the left.  These are the exact same product categories that you have in the product editor. 

 

You will also see some options top right, and any selected categories for the product catalog on the bottom right.

 

 

 

Step 5:  To add a product category to this catalog page, select it on the left and press the add category  button.  Do this for all of the categories that you want to include on this catalog page.

Any products in the category you select will automatically be added to the product catalog.  Any time you add or remove products from these categories using the Product Editor, the website will automatically update.  So you don't need to repeat this step each time.

Step 6:  Enter the options you want to use.  You can enter how many items you want to show per page, and how you want products to be ordered.

Step 7:  Press the 'Accept' button. 

 
 

Step 8. Save the page by pressing the save  button. 

 

Step 9.  Preview the live page with the page preview button.  The website page will open in a new window showing us the current page. 

 

The page will now show you a thumbnail view of all of the products in the categories you selected!

If you take another look at Step 2, you will see there are 5 different types of Auto Product Pages.  Try each of these out too see what the difference is.  They all work the same but display your products in a different way.  You do not need to repick your product categories when switching between these types.
