Spinsoft Website Builder. Version 1.03.07

13th June 2007

Update

Version 1.03.07 of the Website Builder is a not so small update which adds a new page type, some policy changes, new template styles, optimization in many areas and server changes.

We have established a new server in a High Quality Sydney Data Center which we will gradually be moving everything too.  Here we will have more control over things and be able to offer some more customized services.  Once fully implemented we plan to give all clients full access to manage their own email accounts, alternative webmail software, better email quota warnings and more!

Server & Interface Changes:

  • We have setup a new server which will be hosting the website builder.  If your current version (at the top of the window) is 1.03.07 you are on the new server.  Over the next few weeks everyone will be using the website builder from the new server, and eventually all website accounts will be moved to the new server as well.
  • Instead of getting to the website builder via cms.yourdomain.com, you can now use yourdomain.spinserver.net (the old way will still work)
  • Diskspace is calculated substantially quicker now, and you can see more detail when hovering over your diskspace usage bar.
  • Many elements of the interface have been optimized, you show notice substantially increased speed when switching between pages/images etc.

Rich Text Editor Changes:

  • Added a new 'Clear Float' button to the second row of the toolbar.  This is useful when you are floating an image and text is wrapping around it;  if you want to stop the text wrapping around the image at some point simply insert a Float Clearer.

Base Module Changes:

  • Image Library
    • Images will now show the current image type (jpeg, gif or gif-transparent)
    • After uploading an image the settings will no longer be cleared.  This is handy when need to upload the same image multiple times until you get it right
  • File Library
    • Added a 'File Title' option.  The file title is used for download links in the new Auto File Catalog page type.  If you leave this blank, then the file name will be used (underscores are replaced with spaces and the first letter of each word is capitalized).
  • Pages and Content
    • Added a new page type 'File Catalog'.  This allows you to select a file category and have those files displayed for download on the page.  Includes some special options such as Enforcing Policies and Including Subcategories.

If you choose to enforce policies, the download link will only be shown if the current visitor has permission to download that file.
  • Template Design
    • With the new style elements below you can now change the style of the contents of panels, this gives much greater flexibility in template design and opens up a whole range of possibilities!
    • New style elements: Images, Product Images and Image Gallery Images.  If you change the style of the main image, all other areas will inherit this style unless you change them.
    • New style elements: Panel Text Styles, Panel Link Styles, Panel Images.  If you don't change these styles they will inherit the settings for the base Text Styles, Link Styles and Images.
    • Optimized stylesheets substantially when you save them, in some cases halving the size.  This will happen the next time you save your templates.  If you notice any issues at all after saving please let us know asap.
    • Added the ability to re-allocate 'Lost Pages'.  Lost pages are pages that don't have a valid template assigned to them (i.e the template doesn't exist)

Member Module Changes:

  • Added some more information to member groups, clarifying that Policies on the top of the list have the highest priority.
  • Added the option to Include Subcategories for the policy type 'File Category Access Policy'

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed some minor style display variances in Firefox
  • Fixed an issue in the column builder where the panel's weren't redrawing correctly
  • Panel groups incorrectly had a rich text button
  • You no longer have to save the template layout after duplicating a template to create the required stylesheets
  • In IE7, the upload image types were cut off to one letter
  • Fixed a bug when editing a member for the first time
  • Images weren't updating correctly when double clicking them in the rich text editor, this has been fixed
  • Fixed an issue with member groups that only effected those with multiple sites
  • When saving a template with extensions, you will now correctly see the infobar messages.  Previously the extensions were saved, but no message was shown.
