All About Images
What are Images?
Images are pictures, photo's and artwork that you upload to the website builder. They are stored and managed in the Image Library and may be used all throughout your site.
The images must first exist on your computer, and when you add an image it is uploaded to the server where your website is stored. This means that once you upload an image to the Image Library, it does not matter if it is moved or removed from your computer, it will still appear on your website.
Where do I upload and manage my images?
Images are uploaded and managed in the Image Library. This is part of the base module and can be found in the 'Main' menu section as shown here:

What is the Image Library?
The Image Library is the section in the website builder where you upload and manage your images. Here you will see it is divided into three areas. Categories, Image Items and Settings.

What are Image Categories?
Image categories serve 2 purposes.
Firstly they are a way for you to organise your images so that you can easily find them. It is very similar to how you would store images on your own computer. You can create as many categories and sub categories as you like.
Secondly categories can be used to automatically create image gallery pages on your website. When creating an Auto Image Gallery you select any categories that you want to be included in the gallery, and it will be automatically created.
So, it's important to try and keep your images organised, and name the categories/folders with relevant names so you can easily find them.
What are Image Items?
Image items are items which contain information about each image you upload. So each image item will allow you to upload an image to it. This allows us to store setting for the image and keep it dynamically linked throughout your website.
You have one Image Item for every image that you want to upload.
What is the Settings Area used for?
The settings on the right area is used for 2 things.
The first thing is for editing the settings of a Category. When you click on a category, the right area will show you the name of the category which you can change and any other settings for the category.
The second thing is for editing the settings of an Image Item. When you click on an image from the middle item list, you will see the settings in the right area. Here you can name the image, upload an image from your computer and adjust any other settings that have been implemented.
Where can Images be used?
Once you have upload an image to the image library it can be used in many areas of your website:
- in your page content in the Pages and Content section.
- to create automatic image galleries in the Pages and Content section.
- in your panel content in the Panel Library section.
- all throughout your template in the Template Design Section.
- in the content of some template elements such as the page footer in the Template Design section.
- in your products, you can select an image for each product you create in the Product Editor section.
What does Dynamically Linked mean?
Whenever you use an image in the website builder, it is dynamically linked to the image item. This means that any changes you make to the image item will be instantly updated on your website.
For example if you had an image on your website of a product, but one day the look of your product changes. You can take a photo of the new product and find the image item in your library. When you upload the new image for that item, everywhere in your website where it was used, will now use the new image. So you don't need to go and make a new image item and change it everywhere it was used. Thats the beauty of dynamic linking!
